On this hot day that feels like midsummer, a report from Iceland should seem soothing. Well, it was, and it wasn’t. Jordan has recently developed a great fondness for Eggs Benedict, so she sent a picture of her shipboard breakfast one morning—on a table on the deck where the view was the ocean. That really was soothing, though I wondered what one does on board for four days—you can only gaze at the ocean for so long! This morning—in the middle of the night our time—she and her colleague arrived in Reykjavik. So they sent this picture of themselves
on the heliport. My instinctive reaction was, “Omigosh, they didn’t helicopter off the ship did they?” That’s my child who, like me, has never been in a helicopter and once told me she would never take one of those aerial glacier tours in Alaska because too many of them crashed. But when I queried, she thought it was funny and said no, that was just a place to take a picture. Looked rainy and cold to me, which made it soothing today. But she’s having a wonderful experience, including some meals at the captain’s table, which is, I understand, a
big deal.
Despite the heat, my day was
brightened by an online interview a fellow author did to publicize my new book
about Irene. If you’re interested, here’s the link: https://lynnslaughter.com/2023/05/04/mystery-author-judy-alter-talks-about-her-latest-release-and-the-best-first-line-she-ever-wrote/
On that note, I’ll say goodnight.
